Gameday Boots for New UT Students
New University of Texas students are flocking to orientation sessions and the Co-Op bookstore, donning burnt orange, and buying their Longhorn season tickets. We at Allens also welcome y’all to head down South Congress (SoCo, to those in the know) and pick out a pair of Gameday boots. Perfect for any UT sporting event, Gameday boots are the best way to show your UT spirit in a truly Texas fashion—what’s more Texan than a cowboy boot? Gameday boots are currently available in 4 different styles (3 for the ladies and 1 for the fellas). We think the burnt-orange-and-cream Womens Gameday Boots University Of Texas Longhorns Boots Crackle (#Ut L072-1) really take the cake when it comes to school spirit. Never worry about what you ought to wear to the game with Gameday boots from Allens.
Whether you are an incoming freshman yourself, or you know someone who is, we’ve compiled a few tips to help with the journey through the beginning of your first semester at UT. Pull on your Gameday boots and dive into college.
Gameday Boots Out And About
Gameday boots are plenty sturdy, so wear ‘em to explore the great city of Austin! Take a bus, a car, or a friend with a car and drive at random. You never know where you’ll end up. (And maybe go back to our South Congress boots store for another pair of Gameday boots while you’re out, why don’t ya?)
Picking a Dorm
Choosing a dorm at UT is something that deserves thought. Every dorm has a distinct personality, and ending up in the right one will help you make friends more easily. Wouldn’t you rather live around people who love Gameday boots like you?
‘Smart’ Phones, Indeed
If you have a smartphone or a tablet, the Blackboard Mobile Learn app—currently available for the iPhone, iPad, Android, Blackberry, and Web OS—is a great way to keep up with your classes. Many professors rely heavily on Blackboard to post announcements, readings, grades, syllabi, and more. As a user, you can find the class roster, and easily email the entire class, your prof, your TA, or any combination thereof. Having the app on your mobile device is an extremely convenient way to check announcements before classes, or maybe catch up during your lunch break on that reading you forgot to do last night.
Another useful smartphone app is the UT app itself. The map feature shows the entire campus by building and allows you to pinpoint your location. It’s good for the days when you don’t want to wear out your Gameday boots traipsing around lost on campus. Additionally, if you just plain need a rest, take your Gameday boots and hop on any of UT’s shuttles to get around campus or out to areas like West Campus or Riverside. If you tap the bus symbol in the map feature, it tells you which buses run at that stop and the next three times they arrive. The schedule isn’t always accurate, though, so don’t depend on it too much. The app also provides you with your course schedule, room numbers and all, to keep you on track during that first week.
Make friends in your Gameday boots by joining an organization. It helps you attach yourself to the university (especially good for transfer students). Find one for yourself through the Registered Student Organization Database.
We at Allens Boots welcome the UT class of 2016 to Austin, and wish you the best for the upcoming school year!
