Enjoy Rodeo Austin Through March 27, 2010

Right now in Austin, Texas, there’s a whole lot going on: The SXSW Conference and Festivals is happening in the downtown area (were you at Sunday’s Guy Kawasaki SXSW party at Allens Boots?), and just east of downtown is the Star of Texas Fair and Rodeo! An annual event for the whole family, the Star of Texas Fair and Rodeo is at the Travis County Expo Center from March 12-27 this year. It’s a good time for Austinites as well as people visiting for SXSW who’d like to do something very Texas.

Working to promote youth education and preserve western heritage, the Star of Texas Fair and Rodeo was founded in 1938 and is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Year round with Rodeo Austin, the organization delivers entertainment. They boast an economic impact that exceeds $54 million annually. There are over 2,000 volunteers, donors and sponsors who work to advance the mission of the organization by providing scholarships to deserving Texas youth.

Must-See Star of Texas Fair and Rodeo Events

No matter what day you go to the rodeo, you’ll have plenty to see and do. A family event, there’s fun to be had for people of all ages. Don’t miss the livestock show, BBQ cook-off, cattle dog trials, Calf Scramble, ProRodeo, shopping and more.

Live Music on the Main Stage

The event wouldn’t be complete without a great live music line-up. This year’s main stage line-up is impressive, and tickets are $20-$37. Here’s who’s playing:

  • March 14: Joe Nichols
