Cowboy Boots Make the Essential List

Cowboy boots are essential for every fashionista’s wardrobe according to Nina Garcia, fashion director of Marie Claire magazine, and her new book, The One Hundred: a Guide to the Pieces Every Stylish Woman Must Own.  The book lists the items from A to Z and includes tips on how to wear them, along with some history on each item and a few, fun colorful pictures to boot.

Cowboy Boots Year Round

Lucchese Classics Tan Ranch HandAccording to Miss Garcia you should always wear your jeans over your boots, which every good cowgirl knows is best whether you are working on the ranch or enjoying a night on the town.  The good people of Texas know that you can wear cowboy boots all year long.  In the fall and winter, they always look great with your favorite pair of jeans.  In the spring and summer, the women can pair them with long skirts and their favorite casual dresses.

Some of our favorite high-fashion boots are the Lucchese Classics Tan Ranch Hand boot for some of your more casual affairs; or the Justin Black London Calf for some of your fancier evenings out.

Cowboy Boots Aren’t the Only Essential Items

Aside from our favorite, the cowboy boot, the list also contained 99 other items for the fashion-savvy Ariat Corded Cowgirl Hobo Pursewoman.  Some of these items included the Frye Harness Boot (a close cousin to the cowboy boot and one of our popular items), a denim jacket, jeans, a cuff bracelet, a hobo bag like our Ariat Corded Cowgirl Hobo purse, a statement necklace, turquoise jewelry, and a sunhat (which we are sure they meant a straw cowboy hat).

Seeing as how Allens Boots carries all of these above-mentioned wonderfully western items, it looks like we should be considered a fashionista’s shopping Mecca.  Now as far as the other 91 items on the list, you are on your own with those.

Ariat Boots

Ariat boots are some of the leading performance cowboy boots on the market; whether you are riding, working or competing.  So - we thought it might be fun to talk about Ariat boots a little bit today.

Men's Ariat Heritage CrepeAriat boots began in 1990, when co-founders Beth Cross and Pam Parker decided that it was time to create a new type of boot for riders.  After designing a new western boot that was no where near the traditional stiff cowboy boot, Ariat shipped out their first pair in 1993.

Ariat Boots:  The Design

Ariat boots are designed with a cowboy’s comfort in mind.  Ariat boots have a cowboy’s soul, but an athlete’s guts.  One of Ariat’s main technologies is 4LR Technology, which stands for four-layer rebound technology.  Using this technology, Ariat boots feature EVA cushioning, a moisture-wicking sock layer, a metatarsal support layer and a patented Duratread outsole to provide long lasting comfort and flexibility in every cowboy boot that Ariat makes.

Another technology that makes Ariat boots some of the best in the world, is the ATS technology. Advanced Torque Stability gives each and every cowboy that puts on a pair of Ariat boots the stability, posture and comfort so that they can work hard and play even harder all day long.

Ariat Boots:  The Attitude

Ariat boots not only provide comfort and stability; Ariat boots also provide the proper cowboy attitude each and every time you pull a pair on.  By being a long lasting sponsor of such events as the Wrangler ProRodeo Tour, the State Fair of Texas (one of our favorite events), and the National High School Rodeo Association; Ariat boots promote the cowboy spirit and the traditions of the Wild West.

When that cowboy urge strikes you, come and check out our line of Ariat boots and we are sure that you will find a pair to fit you and your lifestyle.

Purse Trends for Summer

Purses Go on a Diet

Purse trends this summer are all about the size.  According to all the fashionistas out there, the purse is shrinking this year.  It is all going back to the smaller purse versus the larger purse of past seasons.  Even though in the Lone Star State, we believe that everything should be bigger, we actually have given in to the purse trend and have taken them down a size or two.

Purses, Purses Everywhere

As the distinguished purse shopper that you are, you will find a variety of designer purses, leather purses, and our personal favorite, western purses, when you walk down the aisles of Allens Boots.  We also did a Ariat Saddle Flap Purselittle research on the purse and found out that purse is derived from the Greek word for oxhide; so it is fitting that we have more leather purses than anything else, don’t you think?

Purses by Ariat

Ariat, a manufacturer of the most advanced boots and leather goods, carries a large selection of leather Ariat Up In Flames Draw Pursepurses perfect for this year’s summer trend.  From the Ariat Saddle Flap purse made of full-grain leather with printed leather accents with credit cards slots and pockets for your cell phone and cosmetics; to the Ariat Rodeo Round Up Mini Hobo bag with detailed embroidery and rhinestone appliqués as well as an internal leather snap key ring holder; there is a small Ariat purse to fit your unique style.

Matching your purses to your footwear is another big trend this summer; and Ariat has that covered as well.  All Ariat purses are made to coordinate with Ariat boots, such as the Fatbaby and the Heritage Western styles.  What more could you ask for?

Now that you know where to find all of your purses for summer, head on down to Allens Boots and start stocking up.

Mules Aren’t Just for Carrying Your Pack

Mules in the Hot Sun

So it’s hot outside and you really want to wear your cowboy boots with your new jeans or your new skirt or dress; although the mere thought of having all that leather on your legs in 90 degree weather causes Charlie 1 Muleyou to instantly break out into a sweat.

There is an answer to having the boot look without all of the boot … Mules! And we aren’t talking about the four-legged kind.

These Mules Were Made for Walking

Mules, by definition, are backless and very often close-toed shoes. The open-toe version is called a slide. They are very popular among women and are believed to have gotten their start back in the 18th century. Mules gained popularity in the 1970’s as clogs, but re-emerged in the 1990’s and haven’t looked back.

Mules, Mules, Mules

Mules come in all sorts of colors and styles, they can be dressy or casual and they are extremely comfortable. In fact, Allens Boots has yellow mules, red mules, black mules, multi-color mules made by Charlie 1, Old Gringo, Frye and Ariat. You name it; we have it to go with all your summer styles.

Mule Rules

Now before you run off with your mules, there are a few things you should know about proper mule fit.

  • You need to make sure that your heel fits on the back of the mule properly. Take care that your heel isn’t hanging over the edge, sitting right on the edge or not close enough to the edge. Just a little edge showing is perfect.
  • Make sure you get up and walk around in the mules you are interested in buying. That way you know they stay on your feet and that they look right with your legs.
  • If you are planning on wearing socks or hosiery with your mules, make sure you bring them with you when you try them on.

Ariat Boots: A History

Ariat Boots was founded in 1990 by two women who were fed up with clunky, stiff cowboy boots. For three years, they worked with a team of the world’s top footwear engineers and designers to develop a dependable line of boots for both English and Western riders. Only then did Ariat release its first pair of boots, in 1993. Ariat Boots is a company founded on the drive to achieve the best results in equestrian footwear, but that drive tributaried into something else: one of the most fashionable lines of women’s boots. A classic example of form following function.
